This paper aims to provide a number of medias that can be used by a teacher in teaching-learning process. the medias are consist of printed media, maquette, audio, audio visual, board game, realiea, and technology based media. there are also some steps in using those medias that easier the teacher to use it in order to create a better learning process. The medias provided as follow ;
In this section, teacher will use magazine as the
media in teaching process. The topic that will be given is Description Text.
Based on K.D. 4.10., especially for the first grade of Senior High School.
In the first phase, teacher makes a discussion about description text with the students
based on their previous knowledge, and sharing ideas what they like to describe
as a warming up. Here the teacher will make a little bit chit-chat with
students in order to impress them about this topic.
Second phase, teacher will intoduce what descriptive
means, how can people use it and also the steps in describing something in
order to make the description teks well organized. This activities will take time around 15
minutes.
Third phase, for the main activities, teacher will
show them a magazine that has been prepared. This magazine consists of a number
of pages that provides bedroom decoration. This magazine is suitable for
student as a learner in receiving knowledge because this kind of magazine
contains one full size picture of bedroom decoration for each pages and it will make them interesting and easier to
catch every stuffs in those pages, the pictures are colorful as well. While
they looking at the picture, they try to make some simple sentences by describing
the pictures and then they arrange it into a good paragraph.
The last phase, teacher will divide them into a
group which consist of 4 students. Then, she will let them choose one bedroom
decoration picture that she has printed before as their exercise. They must
make a text based on the picture that they have choosen. For homework task,
teacher will ask them to make a description text based on their interest. For
additional information, this media only use in one meeting.
This maquette is used for second grade of Junior
High School, the topic that will be given is recount text based on K.D 3.4 .
First section, teacher will introduce the students
about Past Tense, when and how to use it by provides them a simple formula.
After that, the teacher shows them a maket with “zoo” theme. There, the teacher
will guide the students to make some example of sentences by using past tense
based on the miniature in the maket.
Second section, the teacher will give them an exercise.
The students will be asked to make a paragraph by writing a story based on the
maket. They should act as if they were in that zoo, and then, they come forward and retell their story to
their classmates.
The last section, the teacher will asked the students
to write down a short story based on their experiences in the past.

In the first section, the video that will be given
is about “the motivational video” which tell about children’s dreams in the
future and obstacles that they had to pass in reaching those dreams. The audio
does not fill with speaker’s voice, but a backsound only. Thus, the teacher have
to read the text slowly by following the rythm of the backsound. The teacher
will ask the students to write some notes about the words that they do not know
the meaning, so that the students have to pay attention. The teacher may replay
the video twice or based on the students’ needs. The length of the video around
three minutes. This media will be implemented in f Junior High school based on K.D 4.13
In the second section, after the video had played,
the teacher will discuss with the student about the meaning of the video, the
words that they have notes in order to looking for the meaning, and then the
students are expected to know the moral value of the video. This discussion
might not takes a long time, it is approximately thirty minutes during
discussion.
In the third section, the teacher will provide
another topic to teach in order to use the time maximally, so that the learning
process will be effective.
In the last section, the teacher will ask the
students to make a home project. Before that, the teacher will discuss with the
students which are the cheap and easy properties or materials that they want to
use. Here the teacher expect them to draw or print out the picture which tell
about their hobby when they still a kid, then they have to draw themselves what
they want to be in the future, and what are the things that they do to reach
their dreams. On the next meeting, they will be asked by the teacher to retell
their story based on their paper in front of the class.

The audio that will be given is a short conversation
between two people. This audio consist of short question and answer about self
introduction, asking capability, time information, asking direction, and also
favorite food. This media will be implemented in fisrt grade of SHS based on
K.D 4.4.
In the first section, teacher will do some
conversation with the students which related to self introduction and asking
about their daily activity that they often do. Then, the teacher will play the
audio about the conversation that stated above. Here, the teacher will teach
the students how to use the correct question and answer grammatically. She also
ask the students to repeat the audio twice, this activity takes time around
15th minutes.
In the second section, teacher will choose another
topic that related to this activity as well in order to fulfill the time. This
mean that, the teacher wants the students still pay attention and prevent them
for getting bored. So that, the learning activity may still conducive.
In the last section, the teacher will divide the
students into a group which consist of 5 students. The homework that will be
done is making a short conversation, the students have to perform by doing a
conversation in a place based on their choices. For example, if they are in the
airport, they should act and make a conversation about the airport or place
that they want to travel to.
In this section, teacher will use “Football Game” as
a board game. This material only used for review in the last meeting before the
students pass the exam.
This board game consist a lot of vocabularies on the
floor side of the board. Before they play the game, the teacher will review some
topics that they have learnt before. After that, the teacher will divide them
into a group which consist of 5 students into each groups. The students will
play the football game. They have to work as a team, one of them have to
detain the opponent in kicking the ball into the net. Before the ball have striken into the net, they should be
able to make a sentence based on the vocabulary which the ball stay on it by
using any tenses that they have learnt.
In this topic, teacher
will use classroom objects as the media. The topic that will be taught is about
preposition. This media will be used in first grade of Junior High School.
First, teacher will
give some examples of sentences by using preposition. Teacher only use oral
communication by giving them a clue (pointing out the object). Here, the
teacher expected students to understand how to positioned the preposition
precisely. After the teacher has provided the example, the teacher starts to
ask the students what does the preposition means, how to use it, how many
preposition in English, etc.
Second, the teacher
will ask for the students to come forward and play a simple game. Teacher will
divide them into two groups. Then, one student of each groups come forward to
play. Here, the teacher will give them the same object, then the teacher
command them to do based on the sentence that the teacher directed to them,
they should pay attention. Example, the teacher gives them a pen, then teacher
provides a sentence like “ i put my pen in my friend’s bag.” The student must
do it based on the instruction. The duration of this game played around 20
minutes.
The last, the students
will be given an exercise. They have to write a paragraph for free topic, the
paragraph must consist of preposition
that have been learnt.
For technology based
media, the teacher will provide an English learning app called “ English
Listening and Speaking/Listen and Speak”. This app is very appropriate, helpful
and useful for the students to learn English more easy. Listen and Speak app
also easy for students to own it, they have just to download it in the app
store of their smartphones. This app is available for all types of smartphones.
The profit of the app are not containing an advertisement and this app only
need a small RAM. They can download it freely (no payment). This app also helps
the teacher to teach English because it can use whenever they want to.
To use this app, the
students have to sign in via email or facebook. After that, they may start to
use it. This Listen and Speak app is enable students to translate all kind of
sentences or phrases, it gives the students the way to analyze their speaking
ability by giving them an ilustration which sides or aspects that need
correction.
If the students want to
enhance their writing ability, they can follow written task by clicking the box
that provided in that app such as, Short Stories (easy level and intermediate),
IELTS writing (Task I), Essay (Inter-Advanced), they also can detect the
meaning of the words of those stories by clicking the words. To enhance their
listening ability, they can follow some conversations of native speakers by
clicking the conversation boxes (easy-intermediate), there are hundreds topics
provided. They also can enhance their sentences, vocabulary and verbs.
Interestingly, this app also consist of English games, so that they might not
bored in learning English, plus, they can count on their scores as well.
